FORTY-EIGHT IN QUICKSTEP Crack List of Nominations for Twenty-Third Renewal of Latonia Stake Run Saturday. LATONIA, Kyr, May 26 Of the f orty-eigh three-year-olds and older horses which were nominated for the ,000 added Quickstep Handicap, as many as fifteen and possible more actually will face the barrier when the six furlongs sprint is run for the twenty-third time at Latonia next Saturday. The list of nominations includes the names of some of the fleetest sprinters in the Middle West, and besides the classy array already on the grounds and campaigning here the starting field may include a number to be shipped here from other points. , The Greentree Stables Plat Eye drew top weight from racing secretary and handi-capper William H. Shelley, his assignment being 123 pounds. If he is not sent here for the stake, top weight will be shared by H. C. Hatchs Ariel Cross and Louise J. Hickmans Dusky Dawn. They were given 117 pounds each, one more than Brownell Combs Myrtlewood must carry, and one more than the Tranquillity Farm Stables Rock X. Myrtlewood and Dusky Dawn, the former a one-time holder of the worlds record for three-quarters, and the latter one of the stars of the Churchill Downs meeting, are here, while both Ariel Cross, which broke the Churchill Downs track record for six furlongs this spring, and Rock X"., winner last Saturday of the Hawthorne Inaugural Handicap, are expected to be shipped here for the race. Among others which may be shipped here to match strides with the best sprinters are the Old Gold Stables Transmutable and Ike Weils fleet filly Slim Rosie. " Some of the eligibles herestrongly considered as starters in the Quickstep are D. W. Butlers Manners Man, Dixianas Rollin Home, the Everglade Stables Deliberator, A. L. Fergusons Vitamin B., Mose Gold-blatts Gilbert Elston, Mrs. H. H. Hectors Wise Duke, Jack Howards Blue Gauntlet, Mrs. F. Prestons Miss Melody, Mrs. Kirby Ramseys Mucho Gusto, J. B. Respess Bolo, Rosedale Stables Silk Mask, H. G. Shoemakers Wise Bessa, W. E. Smiths Likewise, and J. Wests Greenspring Lad. Such a representative field assures one of the most interesting runnings in the history of the stake.
