GREYBROOM raced to the front in the opening strides, drew away into a good lead and, steadied along in front, was never threatened, but was ridden out smartly to the end. FRED ALMY moved up fast on the outside ncaring the far turn, responded gamely to punishment and held on stoutly in the closing drive. SCOTCH PEPPER, away fast, lacked speed to keep up, though closing in determined fashion through the last eighth. GLITTER GLOW, well placed, was unable to improve his position to any great extent in the drie. LABYRINTH was unable to enter into contention. TEDDY CARL was outrun. MALISPINA was shuffled back to last place in the opening eighth, was taken to the outside, moved up stoutly when called upon, wore down the leaders in the stretch and drew out to win with speed in reserve. OPOCA, outpaced early, closed with a rush on the outside through the stretch and got up in the closing strides for the place. LITTLE AUDREY forced the early pace, was much used in getting to the front and tired slightly in the closing strides. WITLESS, in close quarters early, moved up leaving the back stretch and was unable to improve her position in the closing test. SIS ROYAL displayed good speed in pace-making, saved ground all the way and faltered in the closing drive. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. Gold Step, Sept. 26, 19331:106112. GAY CREST was steadied along within striking distance of the pace in the run down the back stretch wore down the pacemakers and, hard ridden at the end, held ANNARITA safe. The latter, prominent all the way. came stoutly on the outside through the stretch and was going willingly at the end. OVER-STIMULATE, outpaced for the first three-eighths, closed stoutly through the last quarter mile. TRAMWAY closed a big gap. SHANSI raced into contention with a rush, but was unable to improve his position in the closing sixteenth. GENERAL FARLEY was unable to reach the leaders. HASTY HANNA had brief early speed. BLUE DAY, under slight restraint early, moved up stoutly on the inside leaving the back stretch, continued to save ground into the stretch and took the lead to draw out steadily in the final eighth. STE. LOUISE, in close pursuit of the pace, moved up on the outside straightening out in the stretch, closed willingly and, while no match for the winner, outlasted FAKE. The latter hail speed from the start, was rated along in front, but was unable to withstand the closing bids of the first two. DARK WAR, shuffled back soon after the start, was never able to reach the leaders, though closing some ground when gaining clear sailing. LADFIELD had speed from the start, disposed of DEDUCE, then, was forced to meet determined opposition from COL. GREENE and just failed to last. CRISTATE, a trailer for the greater part of the trip, closed stoutly in the last quarter mile. CRETE made up some ground. COL. GREENE was much used in trying to keep pace with LADFIELD and quit through the final sixteenth. DEDUCE, on the inside while racing with the pacemaker, had to take up nearing the half mile ground, then was taken to the outside and made a determined bid to reach the leaders, but was not good enough. JODA worked her way up steadily, was placed under pressure in an effort to wear down the leaders and faltered in the last eighth. PASS SHOT made up some ground. NIPANTUCK had early speed, but faltered after leaving- the back stretch. PAUL JUNIOR faltered after showing speed for the first five-eighths. SEAWICK, taken up repeatedly in the running, closed gamely. TORNADIC, well placed early, faltered after going a half mile. DANCING BOY was never able to reach the leader. STICKHANDLE had eary speed. CHRYSEIS, well placed and restrained early, came through on the inside in the stretch and finished with good energy FAIREST FLAG made a game bid to reach the winner, but was not good enough and held on well to the end FAIRYSTREET was never able to reach the leaders.
