r 1 PAY-OFF IN DEAD HEAT AT DETROIT In the dead heat in the eighth Detroit, Thursday, May 28, wagers made away from the track the chart prices should prevail if track odds were offered and accepted. Where house odds were accepted, the procedure should be as follows: If was bet on each horse and 8 to 5 laid on Silent Don, the pay-off should be .30 to the bettor and .30 to the layer; if 4 to 1 was laid on Handsome John, the pay-off should be .50 to the player and .50 to the layer. The amount of money bet, plus the odds laid, with the total divided equally between the bettor and layer, is the regular method of pay-off in dead heats where bookmaking odds prevail. -i
