CALCULATOR, away fast and hustled into a good lead before reaching the turn, continued with good speed under light pressure after reaching the Final five-sixteenths and probably had but little left. OVERPLAY, forced to lose much ground and under strong riding throughout, held on with good courage. GLASSY EYE began fast, saved ground throughout, but tired after a half mile. UVALDE failed to improve his position. EARLY TIMES bore over badly soon after the start and was inclined to swerve in the stretch. MT. SARD began very slowly. SECOND RACE 5-8 MILE. AUTOGRAPH, away fast, quickly shook off HOWARD G. on the stretch turn, then continued stoutly lo win with speed in reserve. ALICE JEAN, blocked soon after the start, came between horses when making up ground in the stretch and outfinished JABBERIE at the end. The latter, forced to race wide early, crossed to the inside in the stretch and stood a drive gamely, though failing to hold ALICE JEAN. MISS GRAVITY, away slowly and far back for three-eighths, came with a rush on the outside thereafter. HOWARD G. quit. The others had no mishaps. FOXIANA raced under steadying restraint for about three-eighths, came around the leaders with a rush soon after entering the stretch and drew out fast in the final three-sixteenths. FLIGHT OF GOLD saved some ground early, but came out in the stretch and, closing resolutely, wore down TRACKER in the last few strides. The latter, much used to race RAPID BELLS into submission, tired badly after Five-eighths. PETTY TAW had no mishaps. RAPID BELLS tired after showing speed to the stretch. GAY DOG appeared to sulk. CHIMNEY TOP forced the pace under mild restraint, was forced wide by TRINCHERA when entering the stretch, but drew clear quickly when straightened up and won handily. KIEVA, well up. from the start, came through on the inside when closing well in her good effort. TRINCHERA hesitated slightly at the start, was rushed to the front on the inside, bore out slightly when entering the stretch, again when tiring in the final eighth and his rider reached down to adjust a stirrup iron near the finish. SPEEDY SKIPPY was racing well when cut off by KIEVA in the stretch and never recovered. The others had no mishaps. Scratched-25543 Vecks, 102. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE. SANDSTONE, under snug restraint for half a mile, held on well after racing into k short lead, but was not good enough. MARICA saved ground throughout and also held on well. DING BIN, a strong factor from the start, had to be eased when the winner swerved in the final eighth and approached the finish in. close quarters. The latter, under mild restraint for three-quarters, held on well. FIRE ADVANCE lost ground early, was slow to respond to light pressure and raced wide while closing well. IMPEACH, kept on the inside throughout and taken back repeatedly in the first seven-eighths, tired thereafter. BRAVING DANGER lost much ground. CROSS RUFF was outrun. WILCO began to improve his position when racing very wide after a half mile, bore over slightly in the drive and headed LATER ON in the closing stride. LATER ON sharply impeded MISS GLACE at the start, raced to the lead gradually and held on well, but was not good enough. DARKLING, under steadying restraint for three-quarters, was under mild pressure thereafter and held on creditably. SHALOT, quick to begin, saved ground throughout, but tired in the last quarter. PALASA could not get up. CENTENNIAL showed speed without need of urging, but gave wav when placed to pressure. MISS GLACE suffered interference from LATER ON at the start and ,vas forced back at the far turn. Photograph used in determining the winner.
