QUICKSTEP HANDICAP FIELD Open Aspect of ,000 Decoration Day Contest at Latonia Attracts Numerous Candidates. LATONIA, Ky., May 28. Word that Slim Rosic and Transmutablc would be shipped here from Chicago to take part In the race lends intcrsectional flavor to Saturdays renewal of the ,000 added Quickstep Handicap at Latonia. Slim Rosie carries the colors of Ike Weil, while Transmutable is tho property of the Old Gold Stable and both rank high among the handicap sprinters of tho Middle West They are due at Latonia Friday morning. Although it i3 difficult at this time to determine the field which will start in the six furlongs feature this week-end, It 1 possible that as many as fifteen will parade to the post. Besides Slim Rosic and Transmutablc, there Is a possibility that the Tranquillity Farms Rock X. and H. C. Hatchs Ariel Cross also will be sent here for tho stake. Among the sprinters already on the scene expected to try for the rich prize Saturday are W. E. Smiths Likewise, Rosedale Stables Silk Mask, Louise J. Hickmans Dusty Dawn, Brownell Combs Myrtlewood, Everglades Stables Deliberator, D. W. Butlers Manners Man, Mrs. F. Prestons Miss Melody, J. Wests Greenspring Lad, Dixianas Rollin Home, Mose Goldblatts Gilbert El-ston, A. L. Fergusons Vitamin B., J. B. Respess Bolo, Jack Howards Blue Gauntlet and H. G. Shoemakers Wise Bessa. Of the local contingent, Likewise looms as the likely choice, particularly after his two impressive victories at this meeting, but the race is strictly an open affair, which accounts for the numerous starters. In preparation for her engagement in the Quickstep, Myrtlewood turned in a handy three-quarters over a fast track this morning in 1:14, going the half mile in :49.
