OMAHA WINNER OF QOEENS PLATE Special Cablegram. j KEMPTON PARK, England, May 30. William Woodwards j I Omaha, champion American three-year-old last year, which is being j j pointed for the Ascot Gold Cup next month, today captured the I j Queens Plate, a handicap at two miles. A 10 to 11 favorite in the j betting, Omaha defeated Lord Derbys Bobsleigh by a neck in a driv- I I ing finish. Mrs. C. Richs Silverlit finished third, six lengths behind j Bobsleigh. The latter was backed at 6 to 5 and Silverlit at 33 to 1 in the field of five. J j J. E. Cottrells Crawley-Wood was fourth and F. C. Kiddles j 4 Heartbreak finished fifth. Crawley-Wood was backed at 20 to 1 and i Heartbreak at 50-1. I j Omaha ran the distance in 3:44, carrying top weight of 130 I pounds. Bobsleigh carried 123, Silverlit 99, Crawley-Wood 121 " and j Heartbreak 104. j Both Omaha and Heartbreak were rated off the pace most of j ! the way. When they reached the stretch Bobsleigh forged into the j lead with a burst of speed and held it until a quarter mile from the finish. Then Omaha made his challenge, caught the Derby horse j and won in a thrilling stretch battle. This was Omahas second con- j I secutive victory in as many starts since arriving in England. j i i
