j HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES $ Murph, Milky Way Farms Bashford Manor Stakes winner, gave a sample of his speed when he rattled off five furlongs in 1:01 at Hawthorne Saturday. Trainer Robert McGarvey is pointing the youngster for the Hawthorne Juvenile Handicap, to be run at five and one-half furlongs next Saturday.. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson F. Woodward, owners of the Valdina Farm and racing stable, arrived from their home in Houston and plan to remain for some time. Their stable, now quartered at Hawthorne, consists of twenty-six head trained by J. J. Flanigan. Up until Saturday, 155 stables,- trained by as many trainers, had registered with racing secretary J. G. Reeder at Hawthorne. The number of horses slightly exceeds 850. M. P. Murjun of Columbus, a leading breeder of tht lii.ckpye State, has eight here for racing aztCct his Gcsceland Stock Farm colors. They run Mechanics Gold, Gold Thorn, Starl.-ixii, Late. News, Worm Glow, Nancy Nan, June; Forest and Royal Thurston.
