f HAWTHORNE TURF NQTESt With only two, both home-breds, to carry his colors, B. M. Rosenheim, Chicago turf patron, has the smallest stable he has raced in some time. They are the two-year-old Pearl Wood and My Gem, a three-year-old Rosenheim plans to acquire several more. My Tommie, a recent winner at Riverside Park, was foaled at Glad Acres Farm, Texas breeding establishment owned by Richard B. George, where stands Greenock. My Tommie is a son of Torchilla and Henrietta Hardies. . Included in the large stable trainer Frank Garrett brought here from Maryland are nine owned by J. E. Hughes of Chicago, five belonging to Howard Bruce, two owned by C. M. Kelly and one the property of C. F. Hockley. Jockey E. De Camillas is under call to Garrett for the meeting and is riding in good form. Apprentice A. Shelhamer, who is advancing rapidly, scored his first double win of the meeting when he guided Manager Bill and Mad Frump, both owned by A. C. Comp-ton, home in front at Hawthorne Friday. H. G. Bedwell, the Compton stable trainer, holds a contract on Shelhamer. Jockey R. Merritt, who came from New York to ride Buck Langhorne in the Hawthorne Decoration Day Handicap, started back east shortly after filling the engagement. E. Willhite, jockey, who suffered multiple injuries in a fall almost two years ago and has not ridden since, was a visitor at Hawthorne Saturday. He lives in Rock Island, Having decided to train his own horses, E. McGrath is training Teernahilla, Judge Lewe, Bar Play and Grandmas Girl, which race under the McGrath silks. Jockey George Dobson left for Omaha, where he reports to Glen Gorbet. The second condition book of the Hawthorne meeting will be ready for distribution Monday. In scoring a triple Friday, Basil James, western apprentice with the Tranquillity Farm Stable, increased his total of winners at the meeting to thirteen. He scored two wins on each of the first five days and Fridays triple was the first accomplished by a rider at the west side course this spring. R. Cochran vanned Polly E., Kaposia, Try Fair and Threat from Aurora to Sportsmans Park, where they will remain until the close of Hawthorne. Tranquillity Farms Rock X., winner of the Hawthorne Inaugural Handicap on the opening day of the meeting, had a very easy trial in preparation for a stakes engagement at Detroit when he ran seven furlong3 in 1:29, the three-quarters in 1:15, here Saturday morning. M. Marvel, a stablemate, worked with him.
