If White Cockade wins the Belmont Stakes for which he is being pointed, it will be a case of a champion owning a champion, since Ogden Phipps, his youthful owner, has been national amateur court tennis champion for the years 1934, 35 and 36. He recently defeated Walter Kinsella, long regarded the foremost professional in this country and one of the best in the world, in a match at Greentree courts, Manhasset.
