MURPHY QUITS TEXAS POST DETROIT, Mich., June 5. Judge Joseph A. Murphy, who has served as director of racing at Arlington Downs since racing was revived in the Lone Star State, announced today that he has severed his connection with the Texas Jockey Club: He said: "I am leaving with the most cordial relations between myself and Guy L. and E. Paul Waggoner, owners of the track, and I have notified them that if any contingencies should arise where my experience in the legislative and the legal end of racing might be of use to them, I will be at their disposal. I have helped to bring Arlington Downs up to one of the outstanding race tracks of the United States but conditions have arisen which the present management does not seem able to control and which have made the work too difficult." i i -
