DETROIT, Mich., June 5 With the an nouncement of the Thistle Down meetingj which will open July 7 and run until August 15, came an overwhelming response from horsemen from all sections of the Middle West asking that stable room be reserved for them for the meeting. An arrangement has been made with the North Randall people for the use of their stalls at the conclusion of the Grand Circuit meeting, so that Thistle Down, in addition to its own stalls, will have available those of the harness track, which is just across the highway. From present prospects the stables at both tracks will be filled. There is also apparent among all classes of racing followers a new-born enthusiasm for racing in the Forest City under the new order of things. Among the stables now at Detroit applying for stall room at Thistle Down are the following: J. Shirley Riley, with sixteen, including Born Happy, Jimmie Cabaniss, Color Bearer, Spur Flower and many others; Arthur Gaig-nard, with six. including the useful handicap horse Sir Michael, Pish Tush, On Leave, All Rowes and three others; J. From Latonia will come Jewell Brothers, Tom Young, Mrs. R. J. Murphy, John Algyer, C. A. Marone, J. C. Gillem and S. S. Gano. From Kansas City applications have come from W. F. Emerson, who has Bold Lover and Our Count, and from Ed Drillon, who has nine. This would seem to be only the beginning of the demand. Charles F. Henry, racing secretary, spent Wednesday in Detroit in consultation with judge Murphy, and the stakes to be run at the meeting were drawn and the program book outlined. It was decided in order to keep out the lower grade of horses to make the minimum claiming price ,000. There will be two two-year-old races run each day and two of the stakes to be run during the meeting will also be for horses of that age. Judge Murphy will spend Sunday in Cleveland checking up details with president Harry Allshouse and superintendent J. O. Brown.
