MISS NICO, away in the first flight and under slight restraint while following CATHY P., wore the latter down when reaching the stretch and held LADY DAY safe. The latter, slow to settle into her stride and hard ridden to enter into contention, was unable to reach the winner under punishment. CATHY P., quickest to begin, was rated along in front and, despite holding on gamely, was placed under punishment and was unable to cope with the closing challenges of the first two. MALISPINA gained a prominent position in the opening eighth and was unable to improve her position when the real tost came. DUSKY MISS closed some ground. KEOKEE, under slight restraint for the opening quarter mile, moved up stoutly on the outside thereafter, closed in determined fashion and appeared to have won. POMPEYS SQUAW dropped back soon after the start and closed stoutly on the outside through the stretch. CALAVERAS moved up on the inside nearing the far turn, attempted to got through on the inside leaving the back stretch, but had to be taken up when MISS TROPHY came over. He recovered gamely and closed with good energy after saving ground to the stretch. MISS TROPHY displayed good early speed, shook off RICHSTRIKE in the opening five-sixteenths and tired in the final eighth.- UNDULATE was unable to reach the leaders. BUSTER BOY. away well and forwardly placed all the way, was unable to make up anv cround under punishment. FAKE was unable to reach the leaders, but made up some ground in the stretch. Won ridden out; second and third driving. BARON LYNN, shuffled back at the start, worked his way up steadily, closed stoutly on the outside through the stretch and was going away at the finish. GRAND JESTER showed good speed, came over sharply after rounding the far turn, saved ground, made a game bid to go along with the winner when challenged, but was not good enough. WULFSTAN, on the outside, showed good speed, was impeded slightly in the stretch when the winner bore over. WULFSTANS rider lodged a claim of foul, but it was disallowed. BERGERE away slowly and in close quarters nearing the far turn, was unable to reach the leaders when placed under punishment. HOLLUSCHICKIE was forced to take up nearing the far turn when in close quarters. SQUARE dropped back after going the first three-sixteenths. Scratched-24314 Askaris, 112. INDOMITABLE, under slight reserve early, moved up fast on the outside of the leaders, took command when reaching the stretch and, despite holding on with splendid courage, was unable to stave off the closing challenge of the winner. SPEED TO SPARE was away fast, gained a slight lead in the opening strides, but was unable to keep up in tho last threo-sixteonths. BILL FARNSWORTH forced the early pace and was unable to improve his position when called upon in the closing drive. AMERICAN BELLE was well placed early and slightly reserved, responded willingly when called upon, though was no match for tho winner. SMEAR went forwardly early, but was unable to keep up when the real racing began. YANKEE PRINCE could never reach the leaders.
