t LAT0NIA TURF NOTES Hyman Friedberg, Louisville turf patron, who has fully recovered from a recent appendectomy, is expected here this week-end to look over the horses he has here in charge of A. F. Lloyd. George Land, one of the oldest horsemen in the game, was a visitor at Latonia and expects to remain for an indefinite period. John Jackson, a representative of Washington Park, arrived at Latonia to look over the Camera which has been used at Churchill Downs and Latonia. He will report to officials of Washington Park on the operation of the camera used here. J. C. Gillem sold the three-year-old filly Lady Pharamond to Grover Scott. The filly by Pharamond II. and Nut Brown Maid has bc- tiirnM over to E. W. Steiger to train. Jockey William Garner gathered his tack ana departed for Chicago where he will report to William Crump at Arlington Park. The horses which Jess Spencer trains for himself and other owners are to leave for Arlington Park Saturday night. Those in. the consignment will be: Chatuga, Harper, So Good, Good King, Our Willie, Sweet Tone, Big Dave, Babykins, Brillwinn, Saparoo, Sweet Dan and Slant Eye. Jockey Charles Stevenson, leading rider of the meeting here, departs Saturday for Arlington Park, where he reports to Clyde Van Dusen, trainer of Charles T. Fishers Dixiana establishment. Stevenson is under contract to Dixiana. Four probable starters in the ,000 added. Latonia Oaks, to be renewed at Latonia Saturday afternoon, engaged in useful trials over a fast track here Wednesday morning. The quartet seen during the training period were the Rockhome Stables Dora May, Howard Oots Marica, J. B. Respeae Snow Fairy and Dixianas Brendard. Dora May and Marica worked eight furlongs while the other pair were sent a furlong farther. Dora May went her mile in excellent style in 1:40 while Marica negotiated .the same distance in 1:42. Both went handily. Snow Fairy traveled her mile and an eighth in 1:53, another standout performance, while Brendard, snugly held all the way went the same route in 2:0214. The string of horses which H. H. Battle has campaigned with such marked success during the Latonia meeting is scheduled to get away for Arlington Park Saturday night. Included in the string are Our Bud, Sis Agnes, Miss Melody, Geo. Gable, Wilda, Frank P., Plain Jim, Bolo and Col. Julian. Jockey George South will accompany the stable.. The veteran rider Earl Pool was engaged by trainer William Westerfield to pilot the Rockhome Stables Dora May in the Latonia Oaks on Saturday. The filly has trained well for the race and is expected to have a strong following for the ,000 added fixture.
