OUR SPOT sprinted to the front early and, favored slightly by being next to the rail while HE DEVIL was on the outside, bested the latter in the final drive. HE DEVIL was well up from the start and made a game effort in the stretch, but could not get to the front. BALD EAGLE might have been .dangerous but for being in close quarters in the stretch. BUD SMITH made a strong run approaching the stretch turn, then tired. ARROW HEART and MY MODEL could not keep up. HOPE BANQUET was badly outclassed. Scratched 27574 Bonada,97. CHANCABIT had speed from the start and, forging to the front when urged, raced gamely to the end, but barely lasted to hold JOSEPHINE D. safe. The latter came very fast through the stretch and would have won in another stride. TWIN PEAKS saved ground in the stretch and raced well to the. end. ALLENS had early speed, but tired. WAX was done after going a half mile. IKARD was never a serious contender. PRINCETON was unable to-keep up and, taken back when in close quarters on the far turn, came to the outside in the stretch to finish well. JERE showed early speed and was cased up in the last eighth. SIR ROSE raced to the front at once and, taken in hand after opening up a good lead, saved ground in the stretch and had enough left at the finish to hold SAN ARDO. The latter was closest to the winner most of the way and was gaining slowly at the end. REGISTERITE, slow to get going, rushed up between horses after going a half mile arid might have won but for racing beyond the middle of the track on the stretch turn. SAN LUIS REY, under clever riding, was saved back of HIGH IMAGE in the early stages and, forging to the front in the stretch, won in a drive. HIGH IMAGE raced to the front early to make the pace and continued gamely to the end, but cut across after entering the stretch to shut off DARK TYRANT, for which he was disqualified and placed last. GATEWAY showed a good effort and finished fast. DARK. TYRANT was saved close up. to the stretch, was then taken to the inside and was just about to get through an opening betweer. the rail and HIGH IMAGE when the latter came over to shut him off sharply and caused him to lose all chance. ULTRA VOTE broke out to bump BOURBON PRINCE at the start, then raced to a prominent place and, coming fast through the stretch, got to the front when A LA CARTE raced wider and easily showed the. way to the finish. BOURBON PRiNCE was knocked off stride when bumped at the start, was raced up on horses heels rounding the first turn, was forced to take up and showed fair form under ordinary handling. A LA CARTE opened up a long lead while making the pace, but bore out badly on the stretch turn and tired. TOO BUSY could not keep up. The others seemed outclassed. Overweight Oaten, 1 pound.
