HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES g s Dnieper, owned by Mrs. P. A. B. Widener and also unplaced in the Chicago Derby, galloped three-eighths in :36, handily. Warren Wrights Calumet Farm horses still at Hawthorne will be vanned to Arlington Park early Thursday. Among them is Pharosay, an intended starter in the Arlington Inaugural Handicap Monday, and Nellie Flag, for which the crack filly is passing up her engagement in the Illinois Owners Handicap, Saturdays stake feature at Hawthorne. Mrs. E. Oros string of twelve will be shipped to Thistle Down next Tuesday night. Apprentice G. Rukas will accompany the stable. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Weiss of Shreveport, La., were among clubhouse patrons at Hawthorne Wednesday. Weiss is the owner of several horses trained by J. B. Theall. After opening their summer house in Michigan, Weiss will return to Shreveport and later return to rejoin Mrs. Weiss and their children. Jockey Leo Canfield returned from La-tonia and will remain here. Capt. John B. Crawford of London and head of the British Blood Stock Agency, and Marquis De Saint Sauveur, French representative of the firm, may come here from New York to visit with judge Chris J. Fitz-Gerald. They are on a trip around the world. Wayne Wright, who has ranked with Americas best riders for several years, is expected from New York in time to accept mounts at Arlington Park next Wednesday. He is under contract to the Joseph E. Widener stable, which is sending out several stakes candidates. Pete Coyne, chief of the Widener training staff, has reserved stalls for eight horses at the fashionable north side course. While the last evening session of the Horsemens Social and Educational Club at Hawthorne this season was held Wednesday, the final regular noon meeting of jockeys and apprentices will take place Friday, George H. Foster, secretary of the racing commission, announced Wednesday. Jake Lowensteins Sun Captor and three two-year-olds owned by A. Pelleteri arrived here from Mrs. T. M. Murphys Golden Maxim Farm near Louisville. All are ready to go into training. Sun Captor, one of the stars at Arlington Park last year, has been inactive since that meeting. Another outstanding jockey has been engaged to ride in the Inaugural Handiacp at Arlington Park, Monday, trainer Lon Johnson having secured Lester Balaski to guide Mrs. John D. Hertz Count Arthur in the opening day sprint. - A division of A. Pelleteris large stable was transferred to Arlington Park. It consisted of twelve, and the New Orleans turfman has eighteen more to move to the north side course. Following a visit to his home in Montreal, Frank Seremba is back at Hawthorne, where he is racing a division of Joseph Cattarin-ichs stable. Cattarinich, one of the worlds leading sports promoters and operator of a number of race courses in this country and Canada, is expected here for a good part of the Arlington Park season.
