DONNACONA KID lacked early speed but saved, ground on the inside all the way, took command in the stretch and had to be ridden out to hold SANTA MARITA safe. SANTA MARITA forced the early pace, lost ground by racing wide, came on in the stretch and was going gamely at the end. TAP TIME, well placed in the early running, finished gamely on the outside. PROOF slipped through on the rail entering the stretch but tired in the last sixteenth. RED BROOK showed early speed. ROYAL PALACE, fractious at the gate, broke from outside the stalls and was always far back. Scratched Dorothy Clark, 109. Overweight Proof, 1 pound. SISTER JEAN, lucky to avoid early crowding, secured racing room on the inside when the" leaders went wide and, wearing down the pacemakers entering the stretch, drew away and easily held JOSIE G. safe. The. latter forced a fast early pace, was carried wide on the lower turn, losing much ground, finished gamely when straightened out and held on well. LORD COVENTRY broke poorly and, far back early, got through on the inside entering the stretch and finished fast. HERBAR showed good early speed, but raced wide all the way and finished far out in the track. LAURIAN tired. Overweight Bunny Dear, 3 pounds; Nosanta, 1; Kind Manners, 1. PRINCE WESTEND broke slowly, moved up steadily on the outside, finished fast in the stretch, wore down the leaders and drew clear near the end. TUT TUT, probably best, was away slowly, worked his way forward between horses, closed with a rush in the last eighth and was going fastest at the end. BALDY showed early speed but was unable to draw clear, bore over badly on PREMEDITATE in the final sixteenth and outlasted the latter. PREMEDITATE was moving up strongly on the inside during the stretch run when BALDY bore over on her and she was forced to pull up. EXTRANO showed early speed, but was in close quarters on the lower turn. KRAKERJAC was pinched back approaching the half mile post. SEAFARER tired badly. Scratched 24524 Dee Tecs, 102. LASSIES SON, away well, took a short lead shortly after the break, but tired badly in the last quarter mile. RAPID PRINCE showed a good effort. BON CHAMP tired as if short. FREE ADVICE, hustled into the lead shortly after the break, was under restraint while making the pace, but tired badly in the last quarter mile. WINSOME LASS saved ground on the lower turn, but hung in the stretch. GOLDEN HOLIDAY was well up for a mile. TIEDEMANN tired. AXIAL was always far back.
