GOLD SEEKER WINS GAZELLE Daughter of Messenger Adds Revived Stakes to Victories. Sunrap, Winners Stablemate, Plays Big Part in Defeat of High Fleet Goldey F. Wins Again. . NEW YORK, N. Y., June 24 William Duponts Gold Seeker, winner of the Chesapeake Stakes early in the spring over Delphinium and Grand Slam, added the revived Gazelle Stakes to her score at Aqueduct today, thanks to the teamwork of her stable-mate, Sunrap. The lightly " weighted stable-mate carried George D. Wideners High Fleet along in the early stages and then through the stretch after the daughter of Jack High had expended much effort chasing Sunrap, Gold Seeker slipped through on the rail to be a comparatively easy winner. Little Miracle, racing for Mr. Nightingale, was third, and Sunrap saved fourth. It was an excellent mid-week card that was offered by the Queens County Jockey Club and another big crowd was out. In the Gazelle, which, incidentally, added another ,875 to the earnings of Gold Seeker, High Fleet caused some delay at the start. Finally there was a good alignment and the six left on the same stride. Blue Sheen was first to show in front but High Fleet was right with her and Sunrap was lapped on the pair. These three sprinted into a lead of seven lengths with a first quarter run in :23. Blue Sheen was first to tire and then as Sunrap continued to set a fast pace, Renick eased High Fleet back slightly until the daughter of Sun Briar had a lead of a couple lengths. Then, as the stretch was reached, Renick made another move with High Fleet and she moved up fast, but in the meantime, Gold Seeker, for which Sunrap was setting the pace, began to move up ;on the inside. High Fleet made a gallant effort but could not hold the Messenger : miss safe and in the final furlong Gold Seeker went past to win going away by two lengths. Little Miracle, after being many lengths ;out of contention, came fast in the final furlong to finish a length and a half back of the Widener miss and beat the tired Sunrap by four lengths for third. 1 Jouett ShOuses Weston, running one of his best races, proved best in the Waldo . Handicap, when in a battling finish, he was winner over Clocks, from the Brookmeade Stable, with Billie Bane third for Mr. Nightingale, while Danise M. was fourth and the " only other starter was Chicstraw, which raced last all the way. Swinging into the stretch, Weston carried Clocks wide and a claim of foul was made by Corona but it was not allowed by the stewards and the order of the finish was not disturbed. From a good start, Danise M. was rushed out to set the pace. Danise M. was still showing the way when the stretch was reached but at the furlong post Billie Bane drew alongside and for an instant his head showed in front. In the meantime, Clocks and Weston, also closely lapped, were drawing up on the leaders. Swinging along into the stretch Weston carried Clocks out and they battled along stride for stride until they had run down Danise M. and Billie Bane and at the line Weston was winner by a neck. A. A. Baronis Santa Barbara, under an able ride by Wayne Wright, was winner over the maiden juveniles that met in the opening five furlongs dash. Breaking well, the daughter of Bewithus led most of the way, but at the finish was doing her best to win by half a length over C. V. Whitneys Zor, and he in turn barely beatEdward R. Bradleys Blacksod. At the heels of the Bradley colt came Sir Randolph. F. Ambrose Clarks Ridian, well ridden by Frank Bellhouse, was winner of the short course steeplechase over a field of cheap ones when he led home Thomas Hitchcocks Axework, the favorite, on which the amateur Rigian McKinney had the mount. Third went to the Greentree Stables Budget Boy, and A. B. Hagners Flying Feathers was fourth. There were two falls in the running when Seafarin Dan unseated P. D. Reid three fences from the finish and when Persian Prince lost J. Duffy at the ninth fence. Mrs. W. A. Bridges Goldey F., the filly that cost but 50 as a yearling, won her tenth race in eleven starts and boosted her earnings to 4,670 since her first effort in Florida last February when she scored in the third race. In this contest, which was an excellent final for her engagement in the Astoria Stakes, Saturday, the daughter of Tall Timber ran the five furlongs in :58 under 122 pounds, and gave away great lumps of weight to every other starter. Mae-cloud, from the Maemere Farms Stable, raced to second place, and closely lapped on that miss. A disappointment in the running was Drawbrige, from the Wheatley Stable, which was widely touted before the running. The daughter of Sir Gallahad III. did not seem to have any good excuse but was utterly, lacking in speed, and it may be she did not like the footing, for it was muddy despite the fast time. Muddy going improves the speed of Aqueduct. At the end of the card Mrs. N. L. Nim-koffs Cachalot was a sensational winner over Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs Shot and Shell when she came from a distant last place to run down the Man o War mare, and be winner by a head in the final strides. Shot and Shell was eight lengths before Play Vote, which readily beat Abbots Last for third.
