UVALDE, flow as usual to settle into his stride, improved his position readily in the last half mile, disposed of MR. DUNCANNON and drew out fast approaching the finish. JIM CORN, rated fonvardly, made frequent efforts in the last half mile, but tired under a drive and barely lasted to stall off BLUE KING. The latter Unproved his position on the outside and closed stoutly in the late stages. MR. DUNCANNON was steadied in front, saved a hit of rround. but failed to stay in the last quarter mile. AMAGANSETT assumed command at the first jump, was steadied to his fences, rallied when placed to a hard drive in the last half mile and outstayed JUNGLE KING. The latter, reserved back of the leaders for the first turn of the F.cld, was caueht in tight quarters after clearing the eighth fence, raced to the outside and closed with good courage. BIRMINGHAM gained fast when put to a drive and was racing strongly at the close. ST. FRANCIS struck several of his fences and could not threaten. MASKED GAL bettered her position steadily, but tired after moving into contention with the leaders in the final eighth. ACAUTAW, slower than usual in the early, running, finished fast in the last fivc-s-ixtccnths. SCUDDER saved ground and showed a good effort. LEW DUNBAR made up ground steadily. QUE GATO howed early speed. SANDSTONE quit badlv in the last quarter mile, as did ZINNIA.
