ROCKINGHAM TURF NOTES f , i 4 "Red" Howell reported sick to the clerk cf scales and was forced to cancel his riding engagements for Monday. Jockey Harold Tinker departed for Chicago, . where he will ride free lance during the Sportsmans Park meeting. Tommy Malley, former contract rider for . James Fitzsimmons, has regained his top iform and is riding with great success here. Malley will take a short rest after the close of the present meeting and will then proceed to Miami, where he intends to ply his trade during the winter months. Herbert H. Brown, who has an extensive , stable racing here, has decided to retire the mares Blondella and Gramarye and has offered them for sale for breeding purposes. I Brown reports that his good filly Miss Nico is recovering rapidly from recent injuries and will soon be ready for racing. Tom Thorp, presiding steward at the meeting, will journey to Philadelphia Friday night I to referee the Pennsylvania-Princeton game to be played there next Saturday. A. C. Bostwick is shipping his four-year-old gelding Upside Down to Rockingham Park to campaign with the other members of his string here during the remainder of the autumn meeting. John L. Donovan reports that the four-year-old Candimate is fit and ready for the races and will be in the Gallagher colors shortly. Notice has been posted here by Henry Collins, Tropical Park manager, Informing horsemen they should not ship to the Coral Gables plant unless they have been allotted stall space by secretary John Campbell. George Watson was set down last Wednesday for ten days for rough riding, but was permitted to fulfill his engagement aboard F. P. Coltilettis Sandy Boot in the White Mountain Handicap. Bramble Run, Proteus, James N., Witless and Transmac have been added to starter Bob Frends schooling list. John W. Sceusa has taken over the contract on apprentice Charlie Bianco.
