TOMMY ROSE, away fonvardly, was taken back from the pace of the leaders, came to the outside of them in the stretch and finished fast to get up in the final few yards. DORIS RAMSDEN lacked early speed, moved up fast on the outside to enter contention, made a determined bid through the stretch and just failed to last. FAIR ELISE lacked speed to match the pace of the early leaders, saved ground and finished fast. MEDONTE wore down RUFFLE UP to taki a short lead in the back stretch, but faltered in the final eighth. SACKFUL turned in an even performance. TOIKE OIKE broke fast, dropped out of the early running, but finished with cood speed. RUFFLE UP and GORMLEY flashed speed, but quit. BROADCASTER, always well placed, found racing room on the inside in the stretch turn and finished stoutly. MELOY, always a contender, moved up stoutly in the stretch, but tired right at the end. BACKGROUND, reserved from the early pace and forced to race wide to reach contention, finished stoutly. THE MINER raced fonvardly in the back stretch, met with some interference entering the stretch, but finished gamely when clear. DON CARLOS raced evenly. PHILDIA could not keep up. DUNLINS LAD, reserved from the early pace, moved into closer contention on the inside on the final turn, swung to the outside of the leaders in the stretch and, under vigorous handling, was up in the final stride. COLORED ARTIST, always within reach of the leaders, wore down BOSCOBEL in the closing strides and just failed to last. BOSCOBEL had speed to go to the front, established a short lead in the back stretch, drew clear in the front stretch and hung on well under her impost. ASPERGE raced within reach of the leaders on the outside, but was tiring at the end. UVIRA, permitted to drop back in the early racing, closed some ground thereafter. KID GLOVE flashed some speed, but quit. There was a jam shortly aftec the start and HERMANITA lost her rider. . MASONVILLE, reserved from the early pace, moved up stoutly on the outside through the stretch, wore down CLAREMONT and drew clear with ease. CLAREMONT was rushed into command immediately following the start, disposed of SANDY MACK while saving ground on the rail, gave way to MASONVILLE and lasted to hold GENE D. safe. The latter raced in a contending position throughout and finished gamely. CRATAEGUS lacked early speed, but closed a big gap. SEEMEGO turned in an even performance. WAR HASTE closed some ground.
