FORMER TRAINER ED. WHYTE DIES AT HIS ONTARIO HOME 1 TORONTO, Ont, Oct 12. Deepest regret was expressed among horsemen and officials at Long Branch on the receipt of the news of the death of Edwin Whyte at his home at Aldershot, Ontario, on Sunday. For many years a trainer and later clerk of the scales on Canadian Racing Association I1 tracks, Mr. Whyte had been absent from his duties for some time due to his illness. -. During his long career Mr. Whyte trained !:for : many Canadian and American stables. - j Perhaps his outstanding accomplishment in I j j so far as a single race goes, was when he I I saddled Martimas, the winner of the Bel-r mont Futurity in 1898. : Among Canadian stables which were ; , placed in the care of Edwin Whyte were : those of Colonel Hcndrie, the Valley Farm ! Stable, George M. Hendrie and the Kirkficld L Stable. Edwin Whyte was a brother to Jack ; Whyte, ribw a trainer with the stable of 1 Willis Sharpc Kilmer.
