I EPSOM DOWNS TURF NOTES f s 1$ Monte Preston, trainer of the racers owned by Fred Turner, Jr., of Midland, Texas, left Monday morning for Arlington Downs to make arrangements for stable accommodations at that point and in his absence, A. C. Russell looked after the saddling of the Turner representatives. Jockeys Tommy Garner and Freddie Tice, both veteran reinsmen, had their initial mounts of the meeting on the Ladies Day program at Epsom Downs Monday afternoon. Tice is a recent arrival. i Overshoes, a prime favorite with Texas racing fans, and Muy Pronto, were arrivals from Riverside Park at Kansas City, Mo., Monday morning and went into quarters at Epsom Downs. The horses are the property of N. I. Casbeer and are being conditioned by J. W. Crutchfield. A mixed car of thoroughbreds containing seventeen horses arrived from Kansas City Monday morning, according to George F. Ritz, who has charge of the allocating of stalls at the Houston track. Sheriffs from twenty-five south Texas counties will attend Tuesday races at Epsom Downs it was announced, in honor of Sheriff Ben Ford of Houston, who will be honored on the occasion. Following the days races the officials and a limited number of guests will attend a dinner in the clubhouse. ,
