STALLION PURCHASE DIES LAUREL, Md., Oct 19. Information reached here that William Elders successful stallion. Purchase, which was standing at Merryland Farm in Hyde, Md., died from complications. Purchase, before going into the stud, was raced by the late Samuel D. Hildreth. In his term as a sire he sent out, among others, the ill-fated Chase Me, which until his death through an accident at Belmont Park a couple of seasons ago, was undefeated. The death of Purchase is a severe blow to the breeding industry in the Old Line State.
