INCREASE TRAINING WORK Additional Arrivals at Fair Grounds Track Speeds Up Activities for Training Brigade. NEW ORLEANS, La., Oct 19. The track at the Fair Grounds took on a busy aspect during the week with the opening of the grounds for the reception of horses on October 15. Originally there was only one sta-able on the grounds that of H. Torriente, Cuban patron but the arrival of two carloads of thoroughbreds this week from Kansas City increased the training activity considerably. Other horses which were already here stabled on the outside, also moved in, and from now on there will be a busy hum around the track-proper and racing secretary Leigh3 office. Condition books for the first twelve days of the meeting were distributed Monday morning at the Fair Grounds and to all tracks around the country. This contains the first outline of the racing conditions, as well as the list of fourteen stakes and the 0,000 Louisiana Derby, to be run March 27. The meeting opens on Thanksgiving Day for 105 days, with the Thanksgiving Day Handicap as the feature. Applications have been pouring in from all parts of the country in the mail and by wire, and this deluge is expected to be increased with the release of the conditions because racing secretary Leigh has been applying himself arduously to the task of meeting the improved conditions and undoubtedly the book will prove inviting to many horsemen who will probably return to New Orleans for the winter race meeting. Workmen have put the track in fine shape for the incoming horsemen, having filled it with additional loam and sand during the summer, until it is now pronounced the finest it has ever been. Track superintendent Teddy Correjoleas has begun the beau-tification of the infield, planted the winter grass seed, and the rains of the past week has resulted in early sprouting.
