t ARLINGTON PARK NOTES Racing on the turf, a popular feature at Arlington Park, is an important item in the first issue of racing secretary Charles Mc-Lennans condition book. During the first ten days covered by this book five turf races are programmed. Over the holiday week-end Arlington patrons will witness two races on the turf. On Saturday, July 3, the ,000 Matron Handicap will be supported by a mile and a sixteenth turf test, and on Monday, July 5, the secondary feature on the 0,000 Stars and Stripes Handicap card will be the mile and a half Independence Purse over the turf. Many of the nationally prominent sports writers who covered the Louis-Braddock fight plan to remain here for the opening of the Arlington meeting on Monday. George White, a member of racing secretary Charles McLennans staff, is in charge of receiving shipments and alloting stall space at Arlington Park. On Wednesday, July 7, members of the various Elks lodges in the Chicago area will attend the races at Arlington Park. Several leading jockeys and officials will be guests of honor at the regular monthly gathering of the Evanston B. P. O. E; after the races. A
