WHO, in the thick of contention from the beginning, responded strongly to punishment for the final drive and, finishing stoutly, was up in the closing strides. MORLUTE outbroke her field, displayed good speed while setting the pace and held on courageously for the final test. PROTEUS was strongly ridden from the start, raced close to the leaders and fought it out gamely at the end. ALS PRIDE, permitted to drop out of contention, was guided wide but could not reach the leaders. BONNIE MAID raced evenly. MARA-CONNA was outrun. LADY PAL tired. TITANICAL, showing smart improvement, found racing room on the inside to be a stout contender, early, disposed of BORO POKER midway of the turn, then drew out steadily in the final drive. JUSTA PLAY, forced to race on the outside throughout, finished with good courage when entering contention. DIXIE BEE, close up from the beginning, made a stout bid when reaching the stretch but tired approaching the finish. WORKING GIRL was in the thick of contention for a half mile, then tired. SNOW COAT closed a good gap. BORO POKER tired early when unable to get dear. SHEBANG was outrun. HYPH showed a flash of early speed, then quit. TRAGGAT, favored by the fast early pace, was allowed to rate back of the leaders for three-quarters, moved to the leaders readily, went into a clear lead and had enough in reserve to stall off ARDOR. ARDOR improved his position on the inside and finished gamely. CAPT. JERRY was used up when kept under stiff pressure to race with NIMULE and BULLFINCH, then had little left when the real test came. BULLFINCH, ridden with poor judgment, was rushed off her feet in the first seven-eighths. LADY NYMPH showed a good effort. EUDES raced very wide all the way. NIMULE was used up early. JOE lacking arly speed, weaved his way between horses and finished with a held rush. LILTTH had much speed lo open up a clear leatL. responded to urging and fought it out stoutly. SING LOW, in tight quarters most of the trip, finished gamely on the inside. WAUGH POP, racing prom- i inenlly arly, failed to rally when the real test came. GRANDMAS BOY, slow to settle in his stride, circled his field and finished with a "belated rush. ORPHAN LASS showed good speed for five-eighths, then tired. UPSIDE DOWN, on the inside from the beginning, made repeated challenges and held on willingly after being annoyed slightly by LUCKY JEAN at the final eighth post. LUCKY JEAN went In her best form and showed a good effort. DANCING CLOUD .had no excuses. MASKED GAL broke sluggishly from out of hand and was never a factor. MERI SWEEP was overmatched. The latter, raced on the inside of the. -winner, continued gamely and outstayed HARK. The latter worked his way up stoutly in the last half mile and was going gamely at the finish. SHANTEB followed within striking distance of the leaders but cosld not better his position in the late stages. BOLD GENERAL challenged midway of the final turn, then tired. RED ARIL had no mishaps. BERRY PATCH moved into the lead midway of the back, stretch but could not withstand the winner in tho final drive. BRUSH PAST -went prominently from the beginning and held on well. IVY MAXWELL closed a good gap. CHITTER had no excuses. FLOWER TIME tired badly after going Into a forward position. ROLLICK was outrun.
