John Jones, publisher of the Houston Chronicle, and a party of friends, haying come up from Texas for the championship boxing match, were visitors at Washington Park Wednesday afternoon. Frank Miller, -who has charge of the jock-j eys quarters at Hawthorne Wednesday, Tin- j derwent a throat operation and is confined to the Westley Memorial Hospital in Chi-! JDarrell McCown had his first mount in some time Wednesday afternoon. He recently underwent a tonsilectomy. "Bud"Burmester, connected with the Texas j Jockey Club, left lor Hockingham Park and will stop in New York City en route to his I home in Fort Worth.
