HEKAN took the lead from the start and. Increasing it steadily, won with speed to spare. MY VALLEY raced in closest pursuit of the winner throughout, but never threatened. KERRYLITE, well placed in tht early running, held on well but was outclassed. SIR4 ALMADEL showed an even effort. WESTERN CITY was outrun. JENNY WITCH broke slowly but was going gamely at the end. PROMPT RETURN, away slowly, lacked speed, dosed with a rush on the outside in the stretch and got tip to win in the final stride. MISS WARD, Well placed in the early running, but on the outside, took command in the stretch and fought it out gamely. MISS SPIDER broke fast from outside the gate raced MISS PRINCESS into the ground, held on well, but was tiring at the end. BENS WONDER was going well at the finish. MISS PRINCESS showed early speed. FOB started slowly, moved into contention with a rush, was in close quarters in the stretch and showed a good effort. DELANO ROSE quit. MT. WASHINGTON, raced in closest pursuit of the pace, came to the outside of ALTENA in the stretch, held on gamely in the drive and was doing his best at the end to hold WINDY ROSS safe. The latter started slowly, worked his way up on the outside, closed with a rush in the stretch and finished fastest of all. ALTENA broke fast, showed speed in the pacemaking, drew dear on the lower turn and tired in the drive. TWIDGETS lost ground by racing wide and tired in the final eighth.. MILTON MOORE showed brief arly speed. OLEPAL saved ground al the way. METEORIC quit. Overweight Twidgets, 1 pound. FOURTH RACE 170 FEET LESS THAN 3-4 MILE Frrturity Course. POMPARAGON, much the best, was under restraint for the first half mile, moved up fast when called upon, took the lead on the lower turn and, drawing away, won as his rider pleased. CORDON BLEU forced the early pace, raced CHUBBY ROAN into the ground and took the lead on the back stretch, but was no match for the winner. CHAGRIN finished well. EXCEED had no excuses.
