I NEGOTIATES DUFFERIN TURNS joyride Easing Up at Finish of High-weight Handica p Favored Spring Moon Carried Out. TORONTO, Ont., June 23. Joyride, un-sexed son of Happy Argo and Celebration, under a well judged ride by the veteran Pat Remillard, experienced little trouble in taking the measure of seven of the fastest sprinters quartered here in the Little Saratoga Highweight Handicap. At the end of the short race the winner was a length and one-half in advance of the tiring Gold Clip, which, in turn, was a scant half length in front of the fast-finishing Rosepath. Spring Moon, which carried the bulk of the public support, had ample excuse for her defeat when Clarksdale carried her almost to the outside fence on the first turn. Favored with ideal weather, a large " crowd witnessed the splendid mid-week card. Shortly before the running of the feature event the fans were given a musical treat by the Nazir Grotto Band from Canton, Ohio, which, under the personal direction of Charles E. Lotz, played "When. Irish Eyes are Smiling" for their host, Mr.. A. M. Orpen. All visiting Shriners were guests of the management. After a delay of five minutes at the post the small field began as one. They were pretty well bunched going into the- first turn, with Clarksdale having a slight advantage. The latter failed! miserably to make the turn and wound up by carrying Spring Moon almost to the outside fence. This enabled the Medway Stables Gold Clip to steal into a long lead and he was closely followed by Joyride. Gold Clip kept the lead up to the middle of the stretch, but was easily passed by Joyride, which Remillard was easing up at the end. Rosepath-pressed Gold Clip hard for place honors and finished going much the fastest of the others. What chance the heavily backed Spring Moon had was lost when she was carried out.
