J. D. N0RRIS HORSE REPEATER Sandy Boot Wins Again at New York Taking Kildare Handicap, Royal Feast First in Gotham Purse Steeplechase to HUIwood Flying Feathers Falls. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 23: Sandy Boot, the gaiae son of Boot to Boot and Sanda, which races for J. D. Norris, repeated at Aqueduct today when he was an easy winner of the Kildare Handicap. This was a gallop of a mile and a furlong and after trailing the small field to the stretch, he came arcund the field to win going away by a comfortable margin. Challephen, that carries the silks of the Branncastle Farm stable, in a driving finish outgamed the Silver State stables Star Shadow for second place and following these came Thursday, Thorson and Whizzaway. Another day of delightful racing weather resulted in a big crowd being out for the sport. It was a card of overnight races, but fields were well matched and the racing excellent. In the Kildare Handicap, that was confined to those of class "C," Thursday was first to show from the stalls but he almost at once gave way to Whizzaway and Challephen followed these closely. Star Shadow, saving ground on the rail, was a close fourth and Sandy Boot and Thursday were together and under wraps as they brought up the rear, for Thursday dropped back at once. KEPT UNDER RESTRAINT. Thorson hung right to Whizzaway until both began to tire and Arcaro still had Star Shadow under restraint as he went along after them. Then as the stretch was reached he went through with the son of Man o War and still holding him together nicely, took command. Both Whizzaway and Thorson were through but Thursday was closing with. a rush far back of Star Shadow when he was badly pocketed. In the meantime, Challephen, in the middle of the course, and Sandy Boot, on the outside, were coming along with a rush. Sandy Boot carried on to be the winner by two and a half lengths, while Challephen had beaten the tiring Star Shadow a neck for second place. John Hay Whitneys swift running Royal Feast, which had not before shown an ability to race a greater distance than six furlongs, stuck it out for the six and a half furlongs to win the Gotham, a dash confined to three-year-olds. Joseph E. Wideners Advocator took second place, well back of the son of Royal Minstrel, and D. C. Harrisons Trick-wick barely saved third from Daytonian. LEADS THROUGHOUT. From a good start Gilbert at once went out with Royal Feast and he made every post a winning one. Arcaro chased after him with Trickwick but when the stretch was reached the son of Westwick had enough and then it was that Advocator made his bid. The Widener gelding gained some ground and finished with excellent courage but Royal Feast still had a length and a half to spare as he crossed the line. Louis E. Stoddard, Jr.s, maiden, Hillwood, was winner of the short course steeplechase for maidens when under a well-judged ride by Dawson, he led home John H. C. Forbes Axacan and H. R. Bains Greatprex saved third from Archery from the Groton Stable. There was one mishap in the running when Flying Feathers, while enjoying a long lead, went down at the eleventh fence with J. Penrod. Fortunately, both horse and rider escaped serious injury.
