. MILKY WAY es FARMS . BID FOR 0,000 FUTURITY 3 . Bull Dog Colt, Tiger, May Win for Chicago-Owned Stable Qualifies for Honors in Rich Race by a Sensational Six Furlongs Gallop in 1 : 12 Forecast for at Least Ten Starters HpMEWOOD, ni., June 23. The Milky Way Farm, whose two-year-olds have played a prominent role in the decision of juvenile races this spring, let it be known that it will make a powerful bid for the Washington Park Futurity at the local course next Saturday when Tiger, the stables good Bull Dog colt, rattled off three-quarters of a mile this morning in 1:12 in a sensational move. The Milky Way Farm, maintained by Mrs. Ethel V. Mars of Chicago, already has won two important juvenile stakes this year, the Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs, with Sky Larking, and the Princess Pat, at Washington Park, with Well Rewarded, and it would not greatly surprise if this establishment added the Futurity to its list of inumpns witn tne suii uog con, Tiger. Working over a fast track and handled by the stables first string rider, Alfred Robertson, Tiger fairly flew over the six furlongs, going the first quarter in :22, three furlongs in :34, half mile in :46 and five furlongs in :59, flat. Robertson "rode" the colt the first five-eighths, but in the final furlong only steadied the youngster, or else Tiger might even have shaded his 1:12 for the six furlongs. TIGERS RUNNING MATE. Tiger probably will have a running companion in Saturdays stake, which is to be contested over six furlongs for a purse whose gross value may be 0,000, for trainer Robert McGarvey indicated that Mountain Ridge also would be sent after the prize. In the only other important workout of Futurity eligibles this morning the Woolford Farms Joe Schenck also went six furlongs, his time for the distance being 1:13. Performing in handy fashion, this youngster went the first quarter in :24 and the half mile in :48. H. P. Headley may start two from his stable in the Futurity, while J. J. Flanigan, trainer of the Valdina Farms horses, has indicated that establishments lone representative in the stake would be Lassator. Headley is considered certain to start Bourbon King and may also decide upon Menow as well. If Flanigan sends a running mate to the post with Lassator it probably will be Diavolo Boy. Whether Calumet Farm has two starters in the Futurity may depend upon the showing tomorrow of Detroit Bull, which is scheduled to make a public appearance in the third race. The stables Pharacase is practically certain to fill the engagement, barring mishaps. Others which may accept this week-end are Cleaveland Putnams Robber Bold, which was shipped here from the East especially for the Futurity, and the Millsdale Stables Continued on thirty-ninth page. j !
