HOME-TOWNERS LURED BACK Numerous Crescent City Owners to Campaign at Fair Grounds. 1938-1939 Season Shaping Up As Best in Recent History of Track Reservations Heavy. NEW ORLEANS, La., Nov. 15 New Orleans annual winter meeting, commencing Thanksgiving Day, usually lures many hometown owners back to their first loveAthe Fair Grounds, but this year a recorc,for numbers promises to be set, for already an even two dozen have informed general-manager Eddy of their intention to participate in the coming campaign, with more still to be heard from. Tony Pelleteri, "Butsey" Hernandez, Frank Letellier, Johnny Zoeller and J. F. Clark, Jr., head the local brigade with outstanding stables, which will do battle with the many strong invaders. Pelleteri, who will have aroung thirty head on the grounds, already has present such good ones as Bold Fay and The Shooter, with several handicap stars coming from Maryland. Hernandez has twenty-five horses here, good ones among which are Prince Argo, Radio Charm, Woodlander and the Louisi-1 ana Derby prospect, Bright. Letellier is sending thirteen, headed by the fine performers Bilbo, Suthland Beau and Squaw Lady. Zoeller is already on the grounds with sixteen, including Prosy. J. F. Clark, Jr. has Clang, the double world record-holder as his best of a stable which will soon be one of a dozen entries., RETURNING AFTER JAN. 1. Clang will make his come-back liere after the first of the year. Milton Resseguet has a stable of only six, but one is the crack sprinter Old Rosebush, which loves the local track and will make the best on the grounds step to get home ahead of him. Steve Val-enti has a three-year-old Walter L:, on which he is unusually high. The horse won his last two outs before injuring his leg at Fair-mount Park, but he has recovered and is training soundly again. Valenti has two others. Art Gaignard, Jr., has thirteen al-ready here, while his father is preparing a string of eight. Other local owners to race here include Vic Gallo,- with six, headed by Sir Quest and Spartan Lady; Al Gaal with five, including Cherry Leaf; J. W. Potter with six, including the good three-year-old Pandonna; S. J. Molay with four; E. Mathews with four; J. D. Mooney, C. J. Staehle, F. Young, C. N. Bisso and P. Cassagne with three each. Practically all of these men are already present, Gallo, Zoeller and Gaal checking in yesterday.
