I TANFORAN TURF NOTES g Jockey Martin Tj. Fallon has renewed his call with the R. C. Stable for the Tanforan meeting. Fallon is under contract to Howard Hawks, and will report to trainer James W. Smith when the Tanforan meeting terminates. At this time Fallon is one of the top riders in this region. Apprentice Frank Scheihing, who incurred the wrath of the stewards at Bay Meadows and was suspended for the meeting there, resumed riding today. Scheihing is one of most promising among the younger riders here. The veteran Willie Robertson is another saddle artist who will have his first mount in several weeks. Robertson has put in many strenuous days on the road preparing for his return to riding. C. J. "Chuck" Wolf, has taken over the book of apprentice Albert Siler. The youngster is affiliated with the stable under the direction of L. O. Lee. Don Guzman, consistent son of St. James, which races for Eddie Hefferon, will be under colors in the near future, according to advices obtained from Hefferon. The horse has been inactive since the Hollywood meeting. Through the co-operation of the stewards the American Red Cross is offering a series of first aid lessons to stable help and valets. The course consists of ten lectures. Three have already been given to night classes on the Tanforan track. The purpose is to acquaint stable foremen and other trade personnel with the correct procedure in event of an accident first aid until, the doctor arrives. Senator D. J. "Jack" Metzger, owner of the Bar H Bar Ranch stable, who was recently returned to the legislature, was a visitor at Tanforan and will remain for an indefinite period. The Metzger horses are under the direction of trainer Eddie Hefferon. Jockey Basil James returned from his home at Sunnyside, Wash., where he went to visit his parents. James will leave for southern California the latter part of the week to report to the Boeing stable to assist trainer Ted Horning in preparing the horses at that point for their winter campaign. Empress Pelota, which races for Emil Marmet, is about ready to return to competition after several months of inactivity. Jockey Allan Gray, who sustained a broken collarbone at Bay Meadows, was discharged from the Mills Memorial Hospital and is convalescing at his apartment in Bur-lingame. Gray will probably be inactive until the impending Santa Anita meeting. Elmer OConnell added Bold Courtier to 1 his string when he purchased the horse i from M. J. Gobert. Terms of the transaction -were private. Jimmy Hayes has taken over the book of apprentice A. Holliday and will acknowledge the youngsters engagements in the future. Holliday is under call to C. M. Willock. . A welcome addition to the riding colony was that of apprentice Raymond Adair. The youngster rode with marked success in the New York and Boston region and can scale as light as ninety-eight pounds. Adair has affiliated with the. stable of C. E. Dale and Andres Gumperes will book his mounts. Ma j. F. M. Carr has turned the five-year-old Wildland over to trainer L. Clous, who will direct the training of the animal in the future. Aside from Wildland, Clous has Mikes Luck and Bon Hamburg, which, he races for himself. - The body of Frank Boutte, colored track, attache who died as a result of injuries yesterday morning, will be shipped to San Diego for burial. Boutte died at 2:10 a. m. in the Mills Memorial Hospital on Monday morning. Basil Smith received a wire from jockey Johnny Longden saying he will arrive at Tanforan next Monday. Longden has a stake engagement in Maryland Saturday after which he will leave for the coast. Longden rode at Tanforan when he first started his climb to fame. At that time he was in the employ of Albert Baroni. The fast three-year-old filly, First Kiss, Is training well and will make her fall debut at this course. She has been out of training since Santa Anita, where she was one of tho best three-year-old fillies on the grounds. S. Coucci, the booter from the Bronx, Is due Saturday, he wired today. Coucci comes from Maryland ready to ride. Jockey Charlie Corbett will return here the latter part of this week to ride in the Yerba Buena Handicap, where Mayer will have a starter. Bert Baroni vanned No Dice back to Santa Anita, but said he will return soon to Tanforan, bringing Specify along.
