GAONA was hard ridden to keep within striking distance of the leaders, rallied for the final drive and came determinedly in the last eighth. BALKAN WAR was rated in front and saved ground, but tired steadily when overhauled. LACKAWANNA, lacking early speed, closed with a late rush. WILD IRISH began slowly and could not reach contention. CODY was used up forcing the early pace. HARDIHOOD was never a serious threat. MAROC showed early speed. GENERAL MOWLEE was outrun. BASS WOOD, in hand until midway of the back stretch, raced to the leaders with a rush nearing the final turn, assumed command without effort, drew clear and finished with much in reserve. FOXSHADE was hustled into a forward position going to the first turn, bettered his position on the final turn, but - could not threaten thewinner under punishment. PREDESTINED could not keep up in the early running, gained full stride and finished gamely in the late stages. SIR KHAYYAM responded when shaken up, but was unable to reach the leaders. WINNING MARK was stoutly handled and was held safe. MANYMOR was never a threat. EQUESTRIAN failed to get clefr after taking the lead and quit when caught. BLUE TINTS was awav poorlv. PRATTLER took command directly after the start, was steadied to all of his fences, shook off a strong effort from BELL MAN and was lightly urged to hold PROMOTER safe in the closing drive. PROMOTER, reserved for a mile and a half, raced forward gamely when shaken up, moved to the inside of the winner, rallied to punishment and finished courageously. CLAQUE jumped well all the way and held on willingly to the end. BELL MAN forced the pace for the first two miles, then tired after making several strong bids. KAYAK II. was under strong, urging to follow in close attendance of ROAR, responded to punishment entering the stretch to move into the lead, then was kept under severe pressure to the finish. RISSA raced in the thick of contention and came with excellent courage in the final, drive. ROAR had much speed, set a fast pace and continued willingly while saving ground. SIR RALEIGH, forced to race wide from the start, came with good courage under punishment. REHEARSAL was rushed hard, but could not keep up. SLOW MOTION was prominent, but failed to stay in the final drive after securing racing room on the inside. C-NOTE was caught in tight quarters early and could not find clear racing room. PERNIE was rated nicely after moving to the front going to the first turn, responded willingly when placed to a hard drive and outstayed FINANCE under a vigorous drive. FINANCE raced abreast of the winner from ,the start, was squeezed when ROBERT L. drove up on the outside midway of the stretch, then came again while in very close quarters to hold on determinedly to the finish. ROBERT L. was taken back off the pace when straightened into the back stretch, rallied when placed to a drive, came to theoutside and fought it out stubbornly after engaging the leaders. YOUR BUDDY worked his way up steadily and was going gamely in the late stages. INFIDOX challenged strongly on the final turn and held on gamely while saving ground. TRANSMITTER made a stout bid on the final turn, then tired fast. BOOTLESS was not good enough. SUNSUN had a rough trip going to the first turn. PROPH quit. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. COUNT ARTHUR, racing close to the leaders, drove into a short lead going to the final turn, saved ground and, holding on tenaciously, stuck it out gamely to stall off ANEROID. The latter, reserved for the first mile, moved up fast on the outside in the last five-eighths, engaged the leaders on the final turn and fought it out stubbornly after interfering with ESPOSA inside the final eighth. He was disqualified for the foul and pulled up lame. REGAL LILY, saved off the early pace until settled in full stride, swung to the outside in the last half mile and closed with a bold rush to be in a dead heat with ANEROID. JOLLY TAR broke from outside the stalls, dropped far out of contention, then closed with a tremendous rush on the inside in the last five-sixteenths. ESPOSA forced a steady-pace while going in her best form, made strong bids, but was bumped and knocked off stride in the last sixteenth when racing with the leaders, only for which she may have been closer. MR. CANRON raced strongly for a mile, then tired. TWO BOB was displaced nearing the final turn and quit badly. The latter suffered repeated interference in the first half mile to be shnffld back, swung to the outside in the last half mile and finished full of run. CELTIC LEGEND opened up a yide lead in the first seven-eighths, saved ground and held on gamely when displaced. SCHLEY NURSE worked her way forward gradually and came stoutly between horses nearing the finish. PUDDLES came with good speed in the final drive. SCARLET O. was prominent until reaching the stretch. PRETTYLASS could not reach the leaders. DONA DULCIN was rushed off her feet. MAY MUSIC tired early. FLYING ZELMA broke from outside the stalls and raced well for three-quarters. LATER ON, permitted to race on his own courage for the first mile, moved up fast on the turn out of the back stretch, reached the pacemaker in the last eighth, then withstood a vigorous drive after getting into a short lead.
