REVIEW OF CANADIAN SEASON Woodbine Park Again Leads Dominion Tracks in Distributing Money Prizes Sterling Young Romps Away Witb Riding Honors Cosgrave Stable Big Winner Woodbine Park, operated by the Ontario Jockey Club, was again the leading distributor of money prizes in Canada, increasing very slightly the amount it gave away in 1937. The total for the entire Dominion was only a few dollars under the previous year, the figures for 1938 being 93,739 and ,007,572 for 1937. Woodbine Parks daily average shaped up well with the best American tracks. Thirty-five per cent of the publics choices came home in front. Bunty Lawless, winner of the Kings Plate, oldest race run continuously in North America, was Canadas leading money winner with 2,535 to his credit. The Cosgrave Stable had an exceptionally profitable season and carried away 9,302, with the Erindale Stable second with 5,996. A. E. Alexandra and A. Brent had a close fight for training honors, forty-two winners to forty, with Alexandra on the long end. Sterling Young had no rivals among the jockeys, riding eighty-six winners and averaging .27 to make a brilliant showing and taking Canadian honors for the year.
