STAROGAN had speed from the "beginning, met determined early opposition from WILLOW WAND and MISS DE MIE and, holding on stubbornly, had enough in reserve to hold SQUIRREL safe. The latter worked her way up on the inside .and held on stubbornly in the final drive. CANIA, slow to begirt and far back early, came with good energy during the stretch run. TEETER TOTTER was in the first flight the entire trip. MISS DE MIE was well placed throughout. WILLOW WAND was well placed, but met sharp interference when straightened into the stretch and was unable to recover. MISS MONOA was steadied along back of the pace until reaching the stretch, responded gamely to punishment when reaching the stretch and was along in the closing strides. HARPEN BELLE, pinched back in the opening sixteenth and unable to reach the leaders early, moved up steadily in the last five-sixteenths and, gaining command in the stretch, just failed to hold on long enough. WHISPER raced into contention on the outside after leaving the back stretch and held on stubbornly, but was unable to cope with the first two in the stretch drive. AUNT FLOR closed some ground. WULFSTAN was in the thick of contention during the opening three-eighths, then tired underpressure. GOOD OMEN raced well for five-eiehths, then tired. Overweight Miss Monoa, 2 pounds. SILVER TRACE was unruly at the post, was started outside the stalls, went into the air when the start came and, despite closing an immense vgap, was unable- tb .reach the "first two. PHARSALIA took command in the run to the first turn, was rated along under slight restraint, withstood determined opposition from BOMBER, swerved when reaching the stretch, interfering with SARGAZO, was soon straightened out and held on ga.r.dy to the close. He was disqualified for the foul. SARGAZO moved up on the outside, recovered gamely after being impeded in the stretch and finished with good courage. HOLLUSCHICKIE worked his way up steadily in the last three-eighths and closed in determined fashion, getting up in the last strides to wear down FOREVER PRINCE. The latter was hemmed in on the rail by CISNEROS until nearing the stretch, then fought his way clear and finished willingly. LANDLUBBER was unable to reach the leaders at any stage of the trip. BRAIN TRUST outran his field from the start, was rated along in front and only tired during the last three-sixteenths. REVELSTOKE trailed early, then came with good courage through the stretch.
