CHANCE FOR JEWELL DORSETT Can Make Amends for Dixie Handicap Defeat Today in Audubon Handicap at New Orleans. NEW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 1. Joe W. Browns Jewell Dorsett, which disappointed in her initial start of the winter season in the Dixie Handicap last Saturday, will attempt to make amends for that defeat in the Audubon Purse, which headlines Fridays card at the Fair Grounds. Jewell Dor-sett turned in a creditable performance in the Dixie under top weight of 118 pounds, but the effort was not quite good enough, and she had to be content with third honors behind Woodsaw and Chief Nadi. The locally-owned filly might improve on that race tomorrow, and if she does, she will be hard to beat. At any rate, she looms as the likely favorite among the fourteen which were named for the Audubon. Woodsaw was not among those named for tomorrows sprint feature, but Chief Nadi Is in, and he will come in for more than passing consideration from those who like to handicap the horses. Two stables have entered a pair of horses each. Mrs. A. M. Creech may start both Shining Heels and Grey Streak, while the establishment of Mrs. Vera Wyse has named Bachelor Dinner and Eastport. Bachelor Dinner had a high turn of speed for five furlongs in the Dixie, but weakened in the last eighth and dropped out of the picture. He also can be counted on for an improved effort tomorrow. Some of the other accomplished sprinters in the Audubon field are Blond Spook, a winner here this season already; Taken, Joanny, Orinoco and Anna Grand. Prospects this morning were for a fast track for tomorrow.
