ADIRONDACK, carefully handled, was saved close to the pace in the early part and, wearing down POMPETE Hearing the stretch, took a good lead when straightened out for home and won as his rider pleased. TEMPER was outrun early, but came fast through the stretch and was going strongly at the finish. POMPETE raced into a good lead after going half the distance, but faltered in the run home. ROME VENNIE lacked early speed, but was going well at the end. TRISTRAP raced through the deepest part of the track while setting the early pace and tired badly. ROYAL ROVER had no excuses. TIMBER CAT liked the going and, well up from the start, raced into a good lead after going half the distance and was never in danger, although shaken up near the end. SALSITA made a steady move through the stretch and was gaining at the finish. CAMPSHIP could not keep up with the early leaders, but was going fairly well at the end. HIGH ACE got through an opening after leaving the back stretch and, coming gamely on the extreme outside through the stretch, got the decision in a close finish. URGE ME had the most early speed and enjoyed a good advantage entering the stretch, then seemed to falter, but came again near the end. PROUD INDIAN, never far away, finished close up on the inside of URGE ME and HIGH ACE, but beyond the middle of the trjek. JEAN CLOUD made up ground to finish well. POLVOS PRIDE could not keep up. HAPPY DINAH and PLAYMASTER quit. FLYING HEIR was mired in the -deep going on the inside in the stretch. CHIEF MENTEUR was far back all the way. Scratched 69224 Glad Wings, 105. COMPANY, closest to MORAL VICTORY in the early running, came to the outside of the latter in the stretch to wear him down and, getting to the front near the end, scored in a drive. MORAL VICTORY drew away rounding the far turn, but was permitted to race partly in the heavy going in the stretch and met with some interference from the winner near the end. BLAUFUSS, although forccd to the extreme outside in the stretch, was in the best going and finished strongest. JESSIE CLOUD easily held the others. The others were never contenders.
