SUFFERN raced to the front early to take a short lead and, well rated, raced BETTER BET into defeat and had little trouble withstanding a stretch challenge from KUMREIGH to win going away. KUMREIGH made a strong move after entering the stretch, but could not head the winner and tired near the finish. EURIPIDES was permitted to drop far back of the pace in the early stages and was forced to make up too much ground, but finished well. CLARCAROLE had ho excuses. BETTER BET tired. GOLD TROPHY had the most early speed, but could not resist the winner, although much the best of the others. BON HAMBURG made up some ground in the late stages. CANNIBAL was badly outrun all the way. DONALD DUCK, carefully handled, moved up steadily after leaving the back stretch to catch MOONEYBROOK in the stretch and drew out easily in the last eighth. MOONEYBROOK was bumped rounding the first turn, then raced up to the early leaders while still under restraint, but forged to the front nearing the far turn and was unable to resist the winner in the stretch. POMPARAGON closed fastest and would have been second in a few more strides. SHASTA SONG showed a good effort and finished well. TISTRUE tired in the stretch. EASTER PARADE had early speed, but tired. WYOMING DAISY made a strong move nearing the stretch turn, but faltered in the last eighth. ONEILL was never a contender. POSILIPO was forced very wide on the first turn and quit. REPROACH also quit.
