1,694 HIGHWAY DEATHS SPRINGFIELD, 111., Dec. 7 The state highway department reported Tuesday that deaths in Illinois as a result of highway accidents total 1,694, from January 1 to October 31, 1938. For the same period in 1937 the number was 2,097; or more than 19 per cent higher.
