BROTHER AND SISTER ACTS Two Sets of Close Relatives Among Horses at Fair Grounds Cattar-inich Has One Pair. NEW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 7 Two sets of brothers and sisters are among the" crop of thoroughbreds stabled at the Fair Grounds course, the most prominent of which is the highly regarded two-year-old Brodea, the property" of Joseph Cattarinich, and the yearling colt Light Jos, both of which are the offspring of Brother Joe Dearinez. The other set is Blue Dame, a two-year-old chestnut filly owned by Dr. J. A. Black-well of Cooper, Texas, and a yearling filly of the same color produced by Terminus Blue Blood. The latter mentioned kin have not attracted as much attention as the brothers in the Cattarinich menage, however. Brodea, one of the first nominations to be received for the 1939 running of the Louisiana Derby, has been to the post five times this year and all of his engagements have been in the Dominion, winning three and suffering defeat on four occasions. Despite his defeats Brodea is highly regarded by trainer Octave Viau, who has expressed the opinion on numerous occasions that the youngster has shown sufficient class to warrant being rated as a real topnotch colt. Brother Joe, the sire of Brodea and Light Jos, was part of the entry with Brokers Tip when the later nosed out Head Play in the Kentucky. It was in the Kentucky Derby that year that Brother Joe reached the end of his racing career and was sold to the Canadian sportsman and race track impressario by Col. E. R. Bradley. The stallion now stands at Vercheres in Montreal, which at one time was the home of Cudgel and other famous horses when owned by Com. J. K. L. Ross.
