1 FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES I 4 e H. Kreuger; father-in-law of Dan Hardy, who is racing a stable of horses here this winter, arrived from his home in Chicago and will remain in the Crescent City throughout the winter. The horses that D. P. Veneziano, Maryland turfman, registered with the racing secretary, include Albert D., Emma H. and LEnvoi. They recently arrived from Bowie, where they were campaigned until the declaring off of the meeting because of unseasonable autumn weather. Jockey Herby Litzenberger was an arrival from Calgary, Alberta, and plans to don silks within the next few days at the Fair Grounds. Litzenberger is under contract to P. J. Van. Among the new arrivals at the Fair Grounds are the horses that H. L. Chapman brought in. Seymour W., Marg Margaret ! and June Girl are the property of Mrs. R. Smith, while Sars and Smine belong to Mrs. H. D. Sheldon. After an absence of several days from his post, J. B. Theall made his return to active charge of the Joe W. Brown horses at the Fair Grounds. Theall was confined to his apartment with a severe cold. Ed ONeil has taken over the training of i the three-year-old Jot-Em-Down, he announced this morning at the Fair Grounds. He replaces D. W. Carroll. Fred B. Koontz, prominent breeder of thoroughbreds in the Southwest, is expected here after the new year. Koontz maintains a palatial breeding establishment at Tulsa, Okla., where Witchmount and Pairbypair are the main stallions. The stable of Mrs. V. Wyse, of Houston, Texas, has been split into two-divisions, with the following horses having been transferred to Santa Anita: Eastport, Bachelor Dinner, Standard Time, Diarissa and Ferdinand. Five two-year-olds, purchased from Valdina Farm, will be sent to New Orleans to replace those shipped to the West Coast for the remainder of the winter. Acting for Mrs. M. R. Waugh, E. H. Gaines disposed of Humdrum to Dave Stone for a private consideration. Stone will direct the training of the racer in the future. Leonard Turner, who. formerly was under contract to Norman Butsey" Hernandez, came in from his home in Washington for a visit. Increasing weight has forced Turner out of the saddle. Daniel Seism and Dick Anderson, sports editors of the Evansville Courier and Press, respectively, were visitors at the Fair Grounds between sessions of the National Association of Minor Leagues now convening at the Hotel Roosevelt in New Orleans. W. E. Jones, trainer of the Liberty Lane Stable, registered the following horses at the Fair Grounds this morning: Scoria, Fire Ball, Golden Silence and Jungle Jock, the latter a yearling bay colt by Congo Dealers Choice. Trainer licenses were granted by the Louisiana Jockey Club stewards to N. Pope, C. Januska and D. P. Veneziano this morning. Other applications are expected to be received during the week, which will about complete the seasons quota of trainers.
