TEDMELIA, outrun in the first quarter mile, found racing room on the inside while bettering her position, came determinedly while saving much ground in the closing stages and was up in the last few strides. LAST CHASE was a strong contender from the start, slipped through on the inside on the stretch turn to displace FOGGY MORN, but could not withstand the winner. RISE AND SHINE was Vigorously handled and held on well after going in the thick of contention. FOGGY MORN tired steadily when overhauled. CATS CRADLE could not better her position. GEODESIAN, kept within striking distance of the leaders, moved up stoutly on the stretch turn, slipped through on the inside of GIN FRITTERS and drew out after taking command in the last sixteenth. GIN FRITTERS sprinted into a clear lead, met a bold bid from VENDORS LIEN, but could not withstand the I winner. TANGANYIKA, ridden timidly going to the first turn and permitted to fall, back, swung to the outside to enter contention, then finished gamely on the inside in the stretch drive. VENDORS LIEN raced strongly until reaching the stretch, then tired. GESTURE was held safe. FEATHER TREAD was outrun. LACEY MISS was never dangerous. LUCIE MOWLEE showed a brief flash of speed. N., caught in tight quarters in the opening eighth and showing excellent ability in the footing, secured racing room on the inside to move into the lead with a rush, drew clear and continued to draw out steadily. ORIENTAL MISS was a strong contender for the first five-eighths, "then could not keep up. THISWAY, sluggish in the early running, improved his position, but could not threaten the first two. ENVIOUS raced evenly throughout. CAMPO was never a threat. YOUNG NATIVE had no: excuses. SPEAR was badly outrun and raced wide. WINSOME LASSIE tired and lost her rider midway of the stretch when she sprawled. THE SWAGMAN moved up fast midway of the back stretch to engage the leaders, raced to the front gradually, continued with good courage and drew out under urging. HAIR TRIGGER raced PETEE LAD into submission, saved ground, but could not stay. PETEE LAD was ridden vigorously all the way and was best of the others. KALEIDA failed to better her position. BENTAUR tired after going five-eighths GOLDEN DOT was badly outrun. DASH IN had no mishaps. ROYAL BUSINESS, lacking early speed and unable to keep in early contention, raced on the Inside from the beginning, worked her way forward steadily to reach the leaders on the stretch turn, then finished determinedly on the outside to get up in the closing strides. OCEAN ROLL opened up a clear lead after breaking swiftly, stalled off CORNWALLIS and saved ground, but could not stall off the winner. TEDDYS STAR was ridden strongly all the way and held on willingly under punishment. CORNWALLIS made stout bids in the first five-eighths, then tired. FRENCH TRAP broke slower than usual and failed to threaten GRUMPY was never a factor. The latter, kept forwardly placed, came willingly after making several bids. GOODY GOODY dropped out of contention early, then swung wide to improve her position stoutly in the last half mile. CARLS CHOICE was steadied in front until challenged, then tired under a hard drive. VINNY BOY failed to reach contention. FLEET WIND was always held safe. STEEL DUST was used up forcing the early pace; LUCKY ROLL had no mishaps.
