GOLD DROP moved up fast on the outside rounding the stretch turn and, under a hard drive through the stretch, got up to win narrowly. KENT saved ground on the stretch turn, raced to the front at the sixteenth post, but failed to hold the winner in the closing drive. FLAG BEARER took command soon after the start, set the pace to midway of the stretch, then tired. GUARANTY showed good speed for the first half mile, then tired. FRA DIAVOLO, away slowly, steadily moved up on the inside in the back stretch, came fast between horses in the stretch and, under urging, won by a narrow margin. DIDUTELLUS, rushed into a good lead ifcunding the first turn, drew out in the back stretch, but had to be hustled along in the final eighth, then failed to hold the winner in the closing drive and just lasted to save second place. ITSOWN closed very fast in the final eighth and was going fastest at the end. POMPARAGON also closed a big gap in the final drive. DONNA JEAN displayed good speed for the first half mile, then tired. SAN JOSE quit after going the first half mile. ORILEY showed good speed to the stretch, then tired. Overweight Donna Jean, 2 pounds. Corrected weight Oriley, 112. THIRD RACE 1 1-8 MILES. MOLLIFY, carefully rated close to the pace in the first seven-eighths, moved up to catch ALICE BYRD after entering the stretch and, opening up a good lead, had enough left to hold TEMPER safe. The latter was outrun early, but came strongly in the middle of the track through the stretch and was gaining. REPROACH had a good turn of early speed and displayed more courage than usual in the final drive. RODNEY PAN made up ground on the outside. ALICE BYRD tired. JANE BRUCE set the pace, but quit. CELER DOR, rated within striking distance of the leaders for the first three-quarters, moved up strongly in the middle of the track to the stretch to catch COPA DE ORO in the last sixteenth and won going away. COPA DE ORO showed good speed in paccmaking and raced fairly well to the finish. IDLE LAD made up some ground in the stretch. GATLIN raced well and met with interference when CELER DOR crossed in front of him entering the last eighth. SKY SHOOT tired. MISS AMIE was off poorly. Scratched 69208 Florence B. F., 106. PALACIO gained steadily after going half the distance to take a short lead on the outside nearing home, but could not resist the winner. REDCAR made up ground to finish well. NORWAY NELL faltered after looming up dangerously in the stretch. COHIGH and EASTER ELE were used up making the pace arid tired. PRETTEIA was blocked when she attempted to get through an opening after entering; the final eighth. STAR STEPPER raced poorly.
