REFUSES OFFER OF 25,000 FOR UNBEATEN EL CHIC0 NEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. 13. An offer of 25,000 for the unbeaten El Chico was refused by William J. Ziegler, his owner. The sum was tendered by Louis B. Mayer, of Los Angeles in a telephone conversation with the owner of the winter book favorite, for the three-year-old classics next year. Mr. Ziegler did not entertain the proposition for as he pointed out his one ambition in thoroughbred racing is to own a Kentucky Derby winner and at present El Chico appears to be the strongest candidate he has had in that respect. El Chico is stabled at Belmont Park, where he is the pet of the stable in charge of trainer Matt Brady. He is walked one hour each day around the stable and is developing nicely. Brady was enthusiastic over his charge yesterday and pointed out that he was a big horse as far as measurements are concerned. He girths big through the heart. His quarters are powerful and well muscled and while not as tall as other champions is big all over.
