6 MARS STABLE TO OAKLAWN Milky Way Farm Owner Reserves Forty Stalls for String. Tiger to Head Big Establishment Under Care of Trainer Roy Waldron Wants Stayers. HOT SPRINGS, Ark., Dec. 13 Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, owner of the Milky Way Farm stable, today announced that all of her horses, including the yearlings foi which she spent approximately 00,000 at Saratoga last August, will be shipped to Oaklawn Park for the thirty-day meeting beginning February 27: A total of forty stalls have been reserved for the Milky Way establishment by general, manager P. J. Holmes. Mrs. Mars turned down bids by both Hia-leah Park in Miami and Santa Anita in Los Angeles in favor of the spring season at Oaklawn. The horses that are to be shipped here will include Tiger, winner of the third renewal of the Arkansas Derby; Sport Writer, On Location, Native Son and other stars of the string. Roy Waldron, veteran horseman, will direct all of the training activities. Waldron will ship the entire stable to Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby meeting after the season ends at Oaklawn. Sport Writer and Native Son are two of the high priced two-year-olds that Mrs. Mars refused to race this season. The popular Chicago owner has decided that she wishes a majority of her horses to be route runners, especially the new crop coming up, and Waldron will begin the season at Oaklawn with that in mind. Milky Way will nominate at least two horses for the Arkansas Derby.
