BUYS CONTRACT ON YARBERRY MIAMI, Fla., Dec. 13. Joseph E. Widener today purchased the contract on Warren Yarberry, one of the leading apprentices of the 1938 season, from E. B. Carpenter. The terms of the deal were private. Yarberry rode his most recent race at Bowie on November 25. To date he has piloted 132 winners. Yarberry first began to receive attention during the Rockingham Park meeting, where he was far and away the leading rider. He came on from there to appear in New York competition and hung up an impressive record, scoring doubles and triples frequently and winning four races one afternoon. He will ride the Widener horses in Miami this winter.
