CHARLES TOWN TURF NOTES f $ . Q A. J. Boyle, president and general manager of the Charles Town Jockey Club, Inc., denied the report that fall meetings at this point were to be discontinued. Boyle stated that there had never been any shortage of horses here and that the fall sessions filled in the gap between the close of the Maryland season and Florida racing. Jockey E. Terhune received word that C. E. Drummond, who raced a small stable here last year, was seriously ill at his home in Windsor, Ont. G. C. Brenton shipped four horses to winter quarters at Manassas, Va. Mrs. Helen Parks, wife of agent Ed Parks, gave birth to a son in Sibley Hospital, Washington, Monday. The horses of Mrs. D. Barcene, seven in number, were shipped, to Cuba for a winter campaign. B. F. Christmas moved eight horses from this point to Timonium, where they will be rested. Christmas is undecided between Hollywood, Fla., and Hot Springs, Ark., as the scene for his winter campaign. Apprentice A. Balducci will visit his home in Great Neck, L. I., at the conclusion of the current meeting here. He will later ply his trade at Hollywood, Fla. R. C. Rolphe. leaves for the farm of L. H. Nimkoff at Summerville, N. J., where he will pick up two horses for racing in Cuba. Mrs. Maxine Rickard, widow of the promoter, is a daily clubhouse visitor. The- stable of T. Beatty Brown, in care of trainer M. J. Hanton, will be transferred to Hollywood, Fla., at the conclusion of racing here. There are six horses in the outfit. Jockey S. Rossi was fined 0 for striking jockey L. Machado with his whip during the running of the first race. Rossi rode Lyconna. Jockey L. Machado was fined 0 by the stewards for rough riding astride Sure Miss in the first race.
