MUCHO GUSTO IRON HORSE" Kirby Ramseys Veteran Improves With Age and Continuous Racing. Now Stabled at Hialeah Park, Where He Will Be Pointed for 0,000 Added Widener ChaUenge Cup. MIAMI, Fla., Dec. 13. Like rare, old wine, Mucho Gusto, which will be seven years old at the turn of the new year, is improving with age so much so that the title of "Iron Horse" might fittingly be applied. Mr: and Mrs. Kirby Ramsey, who have fifteen head of horses quartered at Hialeah Park for the January 11 to March 4 meeting, would vision a dream come true should Mucho Gusto finish up on the front end of ihe 0,000 added Widener Challenge Cup on Saturday, March 4. The honest son of Marvin May Sweetheart Time, which recently ran second to War Admiral in the Rhode Island Handicap at Narragansett Park, has been a consistent bread-winner, improving his earnings each succeeding year. As a two-year-old Mucho Gusto won ,975. At three he accounted for ,675, at four 1,335, at five 1,995 and at six, this year, ?25,310. In five years of racing he has .amassed 7,050 in 133 starts, to include 39 firsts, 24 seconds and 24 thirds. STILL LONG WAY TO GO. While Mucho Gusto has quite a way to gravel to enter "Iron Horse Hall of Fame," along with such sterling old-timers as Tip- Witchet, which wound up a useful rac-ng Jiity career after 266 starts; old Dr. Clark, which went to the post 243 times, and Pan Zareta, the famous Texas queen, which during? her lifetime faced the starter 151 times, he still has plenty of racing days left and an unusually good chance to catch up with those stout-hearted steeds of other turf eras, for Mucho Gusto has raced only five years thus far, while "Tippy" kept on going for thirteen years, "Ole Doc" twelve years and "Panzy" six years. Tippity Witchet was fourteen years old before he was retired, Dr. Clark reached the. ripe age of thirteen and Pan Zareta called it quits after six complete cycles. Another fact which favors Mucho Gusto at this stage of the sport is that at his age of six Tippity Witchet had started only 84 times, Dr. Clark 68 and Pan Zareta 117. Tippity Witchet won 78 races in all, Pan Zareta-76 and Dr. Clark 43. STAKE CONQUESTS. As for stake conquests at four, Mucho Gusto won the Lincoln Handicap and Francis S. Peabody Memorial at Lincoln Fields and the East Hill Handicap at River Downs; at five, the Rowe Memorial Handicap at Bowie, Narragansett and Governors Handicaps at Narragansett Park, Pilgrim Handicap at Suffolk Downs, and Christmas Handicap at Tropical Park; and this year he has accounted for the Orange Blossom, Coral Gables and E. Phocion Howard Memorial Handicaps at Tropical Park, Governors Handicap and Motor City Handicap at Detroit and Kentucky Handicap at Church-Ill Downs.
