TANFORAN TURF NOTES a W. E. Boeing, owner of the well-known Boeing Stable, racing here, was an arrival from his home at Seattle, Wash., Tuesday morning. Boeing will remain at Tanforan for the rest of the meeting. Jockey Lloyd Knapp departed for Santa Anita Monday, where he will exercise horses until the opening of the winter season. Jockey J. G. Wilson packed his tack Monday and departed for Miami, Fla., where he will join the stable of his contract employer, j P. L. Kelley. Wilson expects to remain in Florida for the whole winter. M. McPherson of Guide Rock, Nebr., has joined the ranks of thoroughbred owners when he purchased the plater, Alice Byrd, from R. McClellan at private terms Tuesday morning. McPherson has appointed L. B. Jeffers as trainer. . Owner and trainer R. Seivers, has taken over the horses of D. J. Davis, to train. Seivers replaces H. M. Hollyfield. The Davis stable consists of Bronze Bell and Green Tea. Florence B. F. was withdrawn from the fourth race Tuesday because of a severe coughing spell. Beti Bat, half of the Mrs. J. F. Waters entry in the sixth race, was withdrawn also. Puako, Top Tax, Sun Portland and Salsita have been approved by the track veterinarian and will be permitted to start. The above horses have been on the stewards sick list. C. A. P. Ice has shipped his stable to Santa Anita and has stated that he will train his own horses in the future. The Price stable was formerly trained by R. F. Carman. The Tanforan track was fast Monday, but the weather was cloudy and it seemed probable that more rain would fall this week. But regardless of track conditions it is likely that the San Francisco Handicap, closing day feature, will be hotly contested. Among the nominees are a number of good mud runners. -
